Pm Modi Inaugurates two academic

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new Academic Complex East and Academic Complex West at IIT Delhi's Hauz Khas campus through a video conference today. Each academic building includes 200 faculty offices, 10 committee rooms, 13 meeting rooms, as well as additional facilities such as faculty lounges and a departmental library.

Two multi-story complexes were built for Rs. 260 crores, covering a foundation area of over 60,000 square meters. They serve as an expansion to the current academic space on the campus.
Prof. Rangan Banerjee, Director of IIT Delhi, thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for formally launching the newly built academic facilities at the Institute.

Attendees of the Ceremony

Meenakshi Lekhi, a Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Cultural in the nation's government of India attended the ceremony held at the Institute. The ceremony was attended by scientists from different organizations, members of the Board of Governors (the BoG), the Building and Works Committee (BWC), academia, staff, and students of IIT Delhi.

Glimpse of Academic Complexes

The East and West Complex will accommodate over 20 academic units of the Institute, including the School of AI, Education of Public Policy, Department of Design, Department of Textile and Fiber, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Material Science and Technology, Department of Math, Department of Energy Science and Engineers, School of Biological Science.

Additionally, Centre for Biomedical Engineering, Department of biotechnology, Centre for Automotive Research and Tribology, Department of Electrical Engineering, Department of Physicist Department of Chemical Sciences, Centre of Excellence on Cyber Safety, Department of Social and Human Sciences, Central Meeting, School of Multidisciplinary Research, and Central Studies Facilities are also included.

More than 300 educational and research laboratories will be established in two structures to focus on research and development in various fields such as Energy, Environment, Sustainable Development, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science, Advanced Training Materials, ManTech, Healthcare, 5G/IoT Communication, Quantum Technologies, Electric Mobility, biological sciences, and other innovative areas of technological and scientific research.

The two academic complexes that have been inaugurated today by the Hon’ble Prime Minister will strengthen the existing academic and research facilities on the campus. The Institute is known for the cutting-edge research done by faculty and students. The new research facilities in these two academic blocks will help us reach new heights,” said Rangan Banerjee, Director, of IIT Delhi.
